A Short Walk From Downtown Victoria
On the second day of our 3 day trip to Victoria, we decided to visit the Fisherman's Wharf. The wharf is just a short 15-minute walk from downtown Victoria BC. It's a great place to eat for lunch in the summer time.

Fisherman's Wharf Houseboats
As you walk along the shoreline towards Fisherman's Wharf, you will see the brightly colored houseboats a short distance from shore. These houseboats can be purchased from a realtor, just like a conventional house. I took a look at some current listings and a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom house cost just under 300K.

Fisherman's Wharf is a Working Dock
Since its construction in 1947, Fisherman's Wharf has been a working dock that moored fishing boats and float homes. It was also an eccentric community of fishermen and other transients. As the fishing industry contracted, less fishing boats and more float homes moored at the wharf. In 2002, the Greater Victoria Port Authority took over the management and began to reorganize the wharf to include a tourist component. Today, the wharf houses a mixture of small restaurants and tourist based businesses, houseboats, and seasonal commercial fishing vessels.
